Description
Refreshing Peach Iced Tea is a fruity, homemade summer drink made with black tea, ripe peaches, sugar, lemon juice, and ice for a cool, refreshing sip that is perfect for picnics, brunch, barbecues, and hot afternoon cravings.
Ingredients
4 cups water, divided
3 ripe peaches, sliced
4 black tea bags
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 cups ice, plus more for serving
Fresh mint leaves, optional for garnish
Peach slices, optional for garnish
Instructions
1. Wash the peaches, remove the pits, and slice them into wedges.
2. Add the sliced peaches, 2 cups of the water, and the sugar to a saucepan over medium heat.
3. Simmer for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the peaches are soft and fragrant.
4. Gently mash the peaches with a spoon to release more flavor.
5. Strain the peach mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl or large measuring cup, pressing lightly on the fruit, then discard the solids.
6. Bring the remaining 2 cups water to a near boil and steep the black tea bags for 5 minutes.
7. Remove the tea bags and let the tea cool slightly.
8. Pour the brewed tea and peach syrup into a large pitcher.
9. Stir in the lemon juice and 2 cups ice.
10. Refrigerate until chilled or serve immediately over ice.
11. Garnish with mint leaves and peach slices if desired.
Notes
Fresh peaches give the best flavor, but frozen peaches work well when fresh ones are out of season.
Chill the tea before serving for the cleanest, freshest taste.
Store the tea without extra ice in the pitcher so it stays full flavored.
