Ingredients
1 store-bought angel food cake
1 can strawberry pie filling
1 package instant vanilla pudding mix
1 1/2 cups cold milk
1 cup sour cream
1 container whipped topping
2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
2 tablespoons toasted sliced almonds, optional
Instructions
1. Cut the angel food cake into bite-sized cubes and spread half of them in the bottom of a 9×13-inch dish.
2. Spoon half of the strawberry pie filling evenly over the cake layer.
3. In a medium bowl, whisk the instant vanilla pudding mix with the cold milk until it starts to thicken.
4. Fold the sour cream into the pudding mixture until smooth and creamy.
5. Spread the pudding mixture evenly over the strawberry layer.
6. Add the remaining angel food cake cubes over the pudding layer.
7. Spoon the rest of the strawberry pie filling over the top.
8. Spread the whipped topping evenly over the entire dessert.
9. Cover and chill for at least 4 hours, or overnight for the best texture.
10. Top with fresh sliced strawberries and toasted almonds just before serving if desired.
Notes
For the best texture, let the dessert chill overnight so the layers have time to soften and set together.
Use fresh strawberries right before serving to keep them bright and juicy.
