Description

This Smothered Turkey Wings with Gravy recipe is the ultimate Southern comfort food. Baked to perfection in a rich homemade gravy, these fall-off-the-bone turkey wings are flavorful, easy to make, and perfect for Sunday dinners or holiday gatherings. A soul food classic you’ll crave again and again.

Ingredients

4 turkey wings

1 large onion, chopped

4 garlic cloves, minced

1 bell pepper, chopped

3 cups chicken broth

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

3 tablespoons butter

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

1. Pat the turkey wings dry and season them with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the turkey wings on both sides until golden brown. Set aside.

3. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté chopped onion, bell pepper, and garlic until soft and fragrant.

4. Stir in flour to form a roux and cook until lightly golden.

5. Gradually whisk in chicken broth to make a smooth gravy. Let it simmer for a few minutes to thicken.

6. Place the seared turkey wings in a large baking dish or Dutch oven and pour the gravy over them.

7. Cover with foil and bake at 350°F for 1.5 to 2 hours, until the wings are tender.

8. Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or your favorite Southern sides.

Notes

Use fresh, unseasoned turkey wings for full control over flavor.

Searing the wings adds deep flavor and richness to the dish.

Gravy can be adjusted in thickness by adding more broth or cooking longer.
