Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
⅓ cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
½ cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
½ cup eggnog
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
3. Cut the cold butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
4. In a small bowl, whisk together the eggnog, vanilla extract, and egg.
5. Add wet ingredients to the dry mixture and stir gently until combined.
6. Turn dough onto a floured surface, shape into a 1-inch thick circle, and cut into 8 wedges.
7. Place wedges on prepared baking sheet and bake for 15–18 minutes, until golden.
8. Let cool slightly on a wire rack before serving or glazing.
Notes
Use very cold butter to help create flaky layers.
Don’t overmix the dough; mix just until combined.
Optional: Top with a glaze made of powdered sugar and eggnog.
