Description

Cinnamon Brown Sugar Waffles are crisp on the outside, soft in the middle, and filled with warm cinnamon flavor and rich brown sugar sweetness. These homemade waffles are perfect for breakfast or brunch and pair beautifully with maple syrup, butter, berries, or whipped cream.

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 large eggs

1 3/4 cups milk

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions and lightly grease it if needed.

2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, brown sugar, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt until evenly combined.

3. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix. A few small lumps are fine.

5. Spoon the batter into the hot waffle iron, using enough to cover the cooking surface without overfilling.

6. Close the lid and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crisp on the outside.

7. Transfer the cooked waffles to a plate or warm oven while you repeat with the remaining batter.

8. Serve warm with butter, maple syrup, fresh berries, or whipped cream.

Notes

These waffles stay more tender when the batter is mixed gently and only until combined.

For crispier waffles, place them on a wire rack in a warm oven instead of stacking them on a plate.

Frozen waffles reheat best in a toaster or oven so the edges turn crisp again.
