Better Than KFC Copycat Coleslaw is a creamy, crunchy homemade coleslaw recipe made with cabbage, carrots, and a sweet tangy dressing for the perfect barbecue side dish, picnic salad, and easy make ahead copycat favorite.
Ingredients
3/4 cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup whole milk
1/4 cup buttermilk
2 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 1/2 tablespoons white vinegar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
8 cups finely chopped green cabbage
1/4 cup grated carrot
2 tablespoons very finely minced yellow onion
Instructions
1. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sugar, milk, buttermilk, lemon juice, white vinegar, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
2. Add the finely chopped cabbage, grated carrot, and minced onion to a large bowl.
3. Pour the dressing over the vegetables and stir until everything is evenly coated.
4. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for the best flavor and texture.
5. Stir well before serving and serve chilled.
Notes
Use finely chopped cabbage for the most authentic copycat texture.
Let the coleslaw chill long enough before serving so the dressing can soak into the vegetables.
Stir again before serving because a little liquid may collect at the bottom of the bowl.
