Description

These Winter Wonderland Chocolate Chip Christmas Cookies are festive, soft-centered, and kissed with cinnamon and sparkly sugar. A perfect holiday treat packed with semi-sweet chocolate and cozy flavors. Great for cookie exchanges, gifting, and cold evenings by the fire.

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

0.75 cup brown sugar

0.5 cup white sugar

1 large egg

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2.25 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

0.5 teaspoon salt

0.5 teaspoon cinnamon

1.5 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks

0.25 cup decorative sugar for rolling

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until light and fluffy.

3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.

5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.

6. Fold in the chocolate chips or chunks evenly throughout the dough.

7. Scoop dough into tablespoon-sized balls, roll in decorative sugar, and place 2 inches apart on the baking sheet.

8. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes until the edges are golden but the centers remain soft.

9. Let cookies cool on the tray for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

These cookies can be frozen after baking or as dough balls for later use.

Don’t overbake if you want a soft, gooey center.

Crushed peppermint or white chocolate chips make festive add-ins.
