Ingredients

For the Apple Filling:

6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

2 teaspoons cornstarch

For the Crisp Topping:

3/4 cup old-fashioned oats

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the apple filling by mixing the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch in a large bowl. Toss until well coated, then spread evenly in the baking dish.
  3. Make the crisp topping by combining the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a separate bowl. Stir in the melted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Assemble and bake by sprinkling the topping evenly over the apples. Bake for 40-45 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender and bubbly.
  5. Cool and serve by letting the crisp sit for at least 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
