Description
Walking Taco Casserole is a fun and easy Tex-Mex dinner recipe combining seasoned beef, crushed chips, melted cheese, and creamy toppings in one irresistible dish. Perfect for busy weeknights or potlucks.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 packet taco seasoning
1 small onion, diced
1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
1 cup salsa
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
2 cups crushed Fritos or Doritos
1 cup sour cream
1/4 cup chopped green onions or cilantro
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned.
3. Add diced onion and taco seasoning, stir and cook for another 2–3 minutes.
4. In a greased 9×13 baking dish, layer half of the crushed chips.
5. Spread beef mixture over the chips, then top with black beans and salsa.
6. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the top.
7. Bake uncovered for 20 minutes or until cheese is bubbly.
8. Let cool for 5 minutes before topping with remaining chips, sour cream, and green onions.
9. Serve warm with your favorite toppings.
Notes
This recipe is very customizable—swap in ground turkey or shredded chicken if you prefer.
Only top with chips right before serving to maintain crunch.
Leftovers can be reheated and re-topped for freshness.
