Ingredients

1/2 lb ground beef

1/4 cup white onion, diced

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

2 tbsp mayonnaise

1 tbsp butter

4 slices thick sliced bread


Instructions

1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and diced onion until beef is browned and onions are soft.

2. Season the beef with garlic powder, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 2 more minutes, then remove from heat.

3. In a bowl, mix shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese together.

4. Butter one side of each bread slice. Lightly toast the buttered side in a skillet until just golden.

5. On the untoasted side, spread a thin layer of mayonnaise.

6. Layer beef mixture and shredded cheese on one slice, then top with another slice, buttered side out.

7. Cook the sandwich in a skillet over medium heat until golden brown on both sides and cheese is fully melted.

8. Press down gently with a spatula to help melt cheese evenly.

9. Remove from skillet, slice in half, and serve hot.

Notes

Use thick-sliced bread to avoid sogginess.

For extra richness, add a slice of pepper jack or provolone.

You can add jalapeños or mushrooms for a twist.
