Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter

1 cup granulated sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped almonds or pecans

Instructions

1. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.

2. Stir in sugar and salt. Keep stirring until mixture blends and starts to bubble.

3. Cook and stir for 10 to 12 minutes until deep golden brown.

4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.

5. Pour mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and spread evenly.

6. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top, wait a minute, then spread melted chocolate.

7. Add chopped nuts and lightly press them into the chocolate.

8. Let cool completely, then break into pieces and store.

Notes

This toffee sets quickly, so work fast once it’s ready.

Use a heavy-bottomed saucepan to prevent burning.

Store in a cool, dry place to maintain crunch.
