Description

Strawberry Donut Rolls are fluffy, sweet rolls filled with strawberry jam and finished with a sugar or glaze coating. Perfect for brunch or dessert, these rolls combine the joy of donuts and homemade sweet rolls in one irresistible bite. Best homemade strawberry rolls you’ll ever bake.

Ingredients

1 cup whole milk

2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast

1/3 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup strawberry jam or preserves

1/2 cup fresh strawberries, chopped (optional)

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Additional granulated sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions

1. Warm the milk to about 110°F and mix with yeast and sugar. Let sit until frothy, about 5-10 minutes.

2. Stir in eggs and melted butter until well combined.

3. Gradually mix in flour and salt to form a soft dough. Knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

4. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

5. In a small bowl, mix strawberry jam with chopped strawberries and cinnamon if using.

6. Roll out dough into a rectangle, spread filling evenly across the surface.

7. Roll the dough into a log and slice into 12 equal rolls.

8. Arrange rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.

9. Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden and cooked through.

10. While rolls cool slightly, whisk powdered sugar with milk to form glaze or prepare granulated sugar for rolling.

11. Drizzle glaze over rolls or roll tops in sugar for a donut-like finish. Serve warm.

Notes

These are best enjoyed warm from the oven.

You can refrigerate the shaped rolls overnight for baking fresh the next morning.

Try adding a handful of chocolate chips or white chocolate for an extra twist.
