Ingredients
1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 cup long grain white rice
2 cups chicken broth
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 bell pepper, chopped
1 onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 green onions, chopped
Instructions
1. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion, bell pepper, and celery. Sauté until softened.
2. Stir in garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
3. Add Cajun seasoning, paprika, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix in rice and let it toast for 2 minutes.
4. Pour in chicken broth and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well, bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for 15 minutes or until rice is tender.
5. Uncover, place shrimp on top of rice, cover again and cook for 4–5 minutes until shrimp are pink and cooked through.
6. Fluff rice, mix in shrimp, and garnish with chopped green onions. Serve hot.
Notes
Always use raw shrimp to avoid overcooking.
For extra spice, add cayenne pepper or diced jalapeños.
