Description

Savory Chicken Donuts are the perfect party snack or brunch idea, combining soft golden dough, seasoned shredded chicken and melted cheese into a fun, easy-to-eat treat. A unique savory donut recipe ideal for gatherings and family dinners.

Ingredients

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

2 ¼ teaspoons yeast

1 tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt

¾ cup warm milk

3 tablespoons butter melted

1 egg

2 cups cooked shredded chicken

1 cup shredded cheese

1 teaspoon paprika

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.

2. Add the egg, melted butter, salt, and flour. Mix and knead until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise until doubled in size.

3. In a separate bowl, mix the shredded chicken, shredded cheese, paprika, garlic powder, and pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

4. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide into equal portions. Flatten each piece into a circle, place a spoonful of chicken filling in the center, and pinch the edges to seal, forming a ball. Gently shape into a donut by poking a hole in the center.

5. Place the shaped donuts on a baking sheet and let them rise again slightly. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 12-15 minutes until golden brown or deep fry until crisp and golden.

6. Let cool slightly before serving so the filling sets a little. Serve warm.

Notes

Use leftover rotisserie chicken for convenience.

Adjust spices to taste if you prefer a bit more heat or smokiness.

These can also be frozen after baking and reheated in the oven.
