Description

This rustic garlic rosemary skillet bread is a homemade bread recipe that’s easy, aromatic, and perfect for pairing with soups or serving as a savory side. Ingredients

1 ½ cups warm water

1 tablespoon sugar

2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast

3 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 ½ teaspoons salt

¼ cup olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped

Additional olive oil and rosemary for topping


Instructions

1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.

2. Add flour, salt, olive oil, minced garlic, and rosemary to the bowl. Stir until a sticky dough forms.

3. Cover with a towel and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

4. Preheat oven to 400°F. Place skillet in oven for the last 10 minutes. Remove and coat with olive oil.

5. Punch down dough, shape into a round, and place in the skillet. Cover loosely and let rise for 20 minutes.

6. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with rosemary or sea salt. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.

Notes

Let the yeast bloom fully before adding the flour to ensure a good rise.

A hot skillet helps develop a golden crust—don’t skip preheating.

Use fresh rosemary for the best flavor; dried can work in a pinch, but use less.
