Description

Mashed Potato Cheese Puffs are the perfect cheesy appetizer or snack made with leftover mashed potatoes. Crispy outside, melty inside—easy, kid-friendly, and freezer-ready.

Ingredients

1 ½ cups mashed potatoes

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 large egg

⅓ cup all-purpose flour

2 green onions, finely chopped

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon garlic powder

1 cup breadcrumbs

Instructions

1. In a mixing bowl, combine mashed potatoes, cheddar cheese, green onions, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

2. Add the egg and flour, mixing well until a thick, scoopable dough forms.

3. Roll the mixture into small balls and coat evenly in breadcrumbs.

4. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet or prepare for frying.

5. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes or until golden, or fry in oil until crispy and brown.

6. Let cool slightly and serve warm for the best gooey texture.

Notes

These are a great way to use up leftover mashed potatoes.

You can freeze them after forming—just thaw slightly before baking or frying.

Add-ins like bacon bits, jalapeños, or different cheeses are welcome for variety.
