Description

Juicy turkey burgers with balsamic caramelized onions and provolone are a delicious, healthy alternative to beef. These flavorful patties are moist, packed with herbs and Dijon, and topped with sweet tangy onions and melty provolone cheese. Perfect for dinner, cookouts, or meal prep, these gourmet-style turkey burgers are easy to make and freezer-friendly.

Ingredients

1 lb ground turkey

1 tbsp Dijon mustard

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp dried thyme or 1 tbsp fresh thyme

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

2 tbsp olive oil (divided)

2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced

2 tbsp balsamic vinegar

4 slices provolone cheese

4 brioche buns

1 cup fresh arugula or baby spinach

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, mix ground turkey with Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, salt, and pepper. Do not overmix. Shape into 4 patties.

2. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-low. Add sliced onions and cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until caramelized. Add balsamic vinegar and cook 2-3 more minutes. Set aside.

3. Heat remaining olive oil in a grill pan or skillet over medium heat. Cook patties for 5-6 minutes per side or until they reach 165°F. Add provolone slices during the last minute to melt.

4. Toast brioche buns lightly. Layer bottom bun with balsamic onions, add the patty, top with arugula or spinach, and place the top bun. Serve immediately.

5. Store leftover patties in the fridge (up to 3 days) or freezer (up to 2 months). Reheat in skillet or oven.

Notes

Perfectly caramelized onions take time, so be patient.

Use fresh thyme for a more aromatic touch.

Always toast your buns for texture and flavor contrast.
