Description

These Juicy Homemade Biscuits are fluffy, buttery, and perfectly moist—ideal for breakfast or brunch. This easy biscuit recipe made with buttermilk and cold butter delivers soft layers and golden tops. A classic Southern comfort food you can freeze, reheat, and pair with savory or sweet spreads.

Ingredients

1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

¾ teaspoon salt

½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

¾ cup buttermilk, cold

1 tablespoon melted butter or honey (optional, for brushing)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3. Cut in cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

4. Add cold buttermilk and stir gently until dough comes together—do not overmix.

5. Turn dough onto a floured surface and pat into a rectangle. Fold in thirds, then repeat once or twice more.

6. Pat out to 1-inch thickness and cut with biscuit cutter. Place biscuits on sheet, edges touching.

7. Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown.

8. Brush with melted butter or honey while warm, if desired. Serve fresh.

Notes

Use very cold butter for flaky layers.

Do not twist the biscuit cutter—press straight down.

For taller biscuits, place them closely together on the baking tray.
