These Healthy Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins are moist, naturally sweetened with ripe bananas and maple syrup, and made with wholesome ingredients like Greek yogurt and whole wheat flour. Ingredients
1 ½ cups whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3 ripe bananas
1 large egg
⅓ cup Greek yogurt
¼ cup maple syrup
¼ cup coconut oil (melted)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners.
2. In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until mostly smooth.
3. Add the Greek yogurt, maple syrup, melted coconut oil, vanilla extract, and egg. Stir to combine.
4. In another bowl, whisk together whole wheat flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
5. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
6. Fold in most of the chocolate chips, saving a few to sprinkle on top.
7. Divide the batter evenly among the 12 muffin cups.
8. Top with the remaining chocolate chips.
9. Bake for 18–22 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
10. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
These muffins can be frozen for up to 2 months.
Do not overmix the batter to keep muffins tender.
You can substitute maple syrup with honey or agave.
