Description

Juicy and flavorful Greek Turkey Meatballs with Tzatziki Sauce are the perfect healthy weeknight dinner. This Mediterranean-inspired recipe features lean ground turkey, fresh herbs, and a homemade creamy tzatziki. Serve in pita, over rice, or with a crisp Greek salad.

Ingredients

1 lb ground turkey

1/3 cup breadcrumbs

1 large egg

1/4 cup finely diced red onion

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing)

1/2 cucumber, grated and drained (for tzatziki)

1 cup Greek yogurt

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill

1 small garlic clove, minced (for tzatziki)

Pinch of salt (for tzatziki)

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, red onion, garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.

3. Form the mixture into 1 to 1.5-inch meatballs and place them evenly on the prepared baking sheet.

4. Brush or lightly drizzle the meatballs with olive oil.

5. Bake in the oven for 18 to 20 minutes until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should be 165°F).

6. While the meatballs bake, make the tzatziki sauce. In a bowl, combine Greek yogurt, grated and drained cucumber, lemon juice, dill, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt. Stir well and refrigerate until serving.

7. Serve meatballs warm with a generous spoon of tzatziki. Great with pita, salad, or over rice.

Notes

Tzatziki can be made ahead and chilled for stronger flavor.

Don’t overmix the meatball mixture or they may become dense.

Use 93% lean turkey for juicier meatballs.
