Description

This Easy Patty Melt Recipe features juicy beef patties, caramelized onions, melty Swiss cheese, and buttery toasted rye bread. Perfect for weeknight dinners, this classic diner-style sandwich is comforting, quick, and packed with flavor.

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

2 large yellow onions, sliced thin

8 slices rye bread

8 slices Swiss cheese

4 tablespoons butter

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. Slice onions thinly and cook in a skillet with butter over medium-low heat for 20-25 minutes until caramelized.

2. Shape the ground beef into 4 oval patties, roughly the size of the bread slices. Season with salt and pepper.

3. In a skillet, cook patties over medium heat for about 3-4 minutes per side until fully cooked.

4. Assemble the sandwiches: layer cheese, patty, onions, another slice of cheese, and top with bread.

5. In a clean skillet, melt butter and grill each sandwich for 3-4 minutes per side until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.

6. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

This recipe makes 4 sandwiches.

For extra flavor, add a touch of mustard or Worcestershire sauce.

Use sourdough or Texas toast if rye isn’t your thing.
