Ingredients
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 pinch salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the cocoa powder, sugar, and salt until well combined.
2. Add the water and whisk again until smooth.
3. Place the pan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring constantly.
4. Simmer gently for 3 to 4 minutes until it thickens slightly.
5. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
6. Let it cool completely, then pour into a clean jar or bottle.
7. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
This syrup thickens more as it cools, so don’t worry if it seems a bit thin at first.
Use high-quality cocoa powder for the richest flavor.
You can add a dash of espresso powder for a bolder chocolate taste.
