Description

This Easy Creamed Spinach recipe is a quick, creamy side dish made with fresh or frozen spinach, garlic, parmesan, and cream cheese. It’s perfect for steak, salmon, or holiday meals. A comforting and versatile dish that’s ready in minutes.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons butter

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 cup milk

1/4 cup cream cheese

1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

10 ounces fresh or frozen spinach

Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

1. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and sauté the garlic for about 1 minute until fragrant.

2. Add the flour and stir constantly for 1 minute to form a roux.

3. Slowly whisk in the milk until smooth and slightly thickened.

4. Stir in the cream cheese, parmesan, and nutmeg until melted and combined.

5. Fold in the spinach. If using fresh, cook until wilted. If using frozen, ensure it is thawed and drained.

6. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for a few minutes on low.

7. Serve warm as a side dish.

Notes

Use frozen spinach to save time, just squeeze out excess water.

Adjust the thickness by adding a splash more milk if needed.

A pinch of cayenne can add a gentle kick if you like heat.
