Ingredients
1 lb ground breakfast sausage (pork or turkey)
6 large eggs
2 cups whole milk
1½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
2 cups cubed day-old bread (French or sourdough)
½ cup chopped red bell pepper
½ cup chopped green onions
1 tsp garlic powder
½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
Optional: chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned; drain excess fat.
- Layer cubed bread in the baking dish. Top with sausage, bell pepper, and green onions.
- In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir in both cheeses, reserving some cheddar for topping.
- Pour egg mixture evenly over the layers in the dish. Let sit for 10–15 minutes.
- Sprinkle remaining cheddar on top. Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes until golden and center is set.
- Let rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with parsley and serve warm.
