Ingredients
1.5 pounds ground beef
1 small yellow onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons tomato paste
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 teaspoon chili powder
0.5 teaspoon salt
0.5 teaspoon black pepper
0.25 cup water or beef broth
6 to 8 sandwich buns
Instructions
1. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic and sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.
2. Transfer the beef mixture to a crock pot. Add ketchup, tomato paste, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, chili powder, salt, pepper, and water or broth. Stir well.
3. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 6 hours. Stir occasionally if possible.
4. Serve the sloppy joe mixture on sandwich buns and enjoy immediately.
