Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry
2 medium apples, diced
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 egg, beaten (for brushing)
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1–2 tbsp milk or cream
1/4 tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions
1. Peel and dice the apples into small chunks. Combine with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and vanilla extract. Let sit to draw juices.
2. Roll out puff pastry on a floured surface. Add apple mixture down the center. Fold and seal the sides and ends.
3. Transfer to a baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg. Bake at 400°F for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
4. Let cool slightly. Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for glaze. Drizzle over warm kringle. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
This recipe works best with all-butter puff pastry.
Add chopped walnuts or raisins to the filling for extra texture.
