Description
This Classic Cranberry Sauce recipe is a quick and easy holiday side dish made with fresh cranberries, orange juice, and zest. Perfectly sweet and tangy, it pairs beautifully with turkey, chicken, or even a cheese board. A must-have homemade sauce for Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner.
Ingredients
12 oz fresh cranberries
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
1/2 cup orange juice
1 tsp orange zest
Instructions
1. In a medium saucepan, combine the cranberries, sugar, orange juice, and water.
2. Stir and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
3. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cranberries burst and mixture thickens.
4. Remove from heat and stir in the orange zest.
5. Let cool to room temperature before serving or storing.
Notes
Use fresh or frozen cranberries, but do not thaw if using frozen.
Cranberry sauce thickens as it cools, so don’t worry if it seems a bit thin at first.
Make it up to a week ahead and refrigerate for convenience.
