Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
0.5 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
0.25 teaspoon salt
0.5 cup fruit jam or preserves
Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
1. Beat butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
2. Stir in vanilla, then gradually add flour and salt until dough forms.
3. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
4. Press a thumbprint or small spoon into the center of each cookie.
5. Fill each indentation with a small spoonful of jam.
6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 12–15 minutes until edges are just golden.
7. Cool on a wire rack, then dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
Use a thick jam to prevent spreading while baking.
Cookies can be frozen for up to 3 months.
Let cookies cool fully before dusting with powdered sugar.
