Description

This Chocolate Peppermint Mousse recipe blends rich dark chocolate with cool peppermint for a festive, no-bake holiday dessert. Light, creamy, and perfect for Christmas or winter gatherings, it’s an easy make-ahead treat that everyone will love. Ideal for mousse lovers, chocolate desserts, and peppermint fans alike.

Ingredients

1 cup heavy whipping cream

4 oz dark chocolate, chopped

2 large eggs, separated

3 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 teaspoon peppermint extract

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 pinch salt

2 tablespoons crushed candy canes (for garnish)

Extra whipped cream (for topping, optional)

Instructions

1. Melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler or microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Let it cool slightly.

2. In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream to soft peaks. Refrigerate while preparing the rest.

3. In another bowl, beat egg yolks with sugar until pale and thick. Gently heat over simmering water, whisking constantly until slightly thickened.

4. Add the melted chocolate to the egg mixture. Stir in peppermint extract, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Mix until fully blended.

5. Fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture gently, in batches, to keep it airy.

6. Spoon mousse into glasses or jars. Chill at least 2 hours. Top with whipped cream and crushed candy canes before serving.

Notes

This mousse can be made up to 2 days ahead and stored in the fridge.

Use high-quality dark chocolate for a deeper flavor.

Add mini chocolate chips or shavings for extra texture.
