Description

This Chinese Chicken & Cabbage Stir-Fry is a quick and healthy dinner idea featuring juicy chicken breast, crisp green cabbage, garlic, and ginger in a savory soy sauce. A perfect low-carb, high-protein stir-fry meal that’s easy to customize and ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

2 chicken breasts

4 cups green cabbage, thinly sliced

2 tablespoons soy sauce

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon ginger, minced

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon cornstarch

2 green onions, sliced

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

2 tablespoons water

Instructions

1. Slice the chicken breasts into thin strips and toss with 1 teaspoon of soy sauce and a pinch of salt. Let marinate for 10 minutes.

2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook until browned and just cooked through. Remove and set aside.

3. In the same pan, add garlic and ginger. Stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.

4. Add sliced cabbage and stir-fry for 3 to 4 minutes, until slightly wilted but still crisp.

5. Return the chicken to the pan and add the remaining soy sauce and water. Stir to combine.

6. Mix cornstarch with a small splash of water to create a slurry and add it to the pan. Stir and let the sauce thicken for 2 minutes.

7. Drizzle with sesame oil and top with sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

This recipe is very adaptable—use Napa cabbage for a softer texture.

Add red pepper flakes or chili garlic sauce if you prefer a little heat.

Serve it over rice or noodles if you want a heartier meal.
