Description
This blueberry cream cheese frosting recipe is rich, fruity, and easy to make. Made with real blueberries and cream cheese, it’s the perfect topping for cupcakes, cakes, and cookies. A naturally vibrant and flavorful frosting for all your sweet bakes.
Ingredients
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
8 oz cream cheese, softened
2 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
1 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
1. Add blueberries and lemon juice to a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook until berries burst and the mixture thickens, about 8–10 minutes. Let cool completely.
2. In a mixing bowl, beat butter and cream cheese until smooth and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
3. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Beat until the frosting is thick and smooth.
4. Add the cooled blueberry mixture. Beat again until well combined and beautifully purple.
5. Chill in the refrigerator for 15–20 minutes if the frosting is too soft to pipe or spread.
Notes
Make sure your butter and cream cheese are at room temperature for smooth blending.
Always cool the blueberry reduction before adding it to the frosting to avoid melting.
You can double the recipe for a layered cake or freeze leftovers up to 1 month.
