Description
This creamy banana cake filling recipe is the perfect addition to your favorite banana cake or cupcake layers. Made with ripe bananas, cream cheese, butter, and a touch of vanilla, it’s rich, easy to make, and elevates any dessert. Great for birthdays, special occasions, or cozy family bakes.
Ingredients
½ cup ripe banana (about 1 medium, mashed)
4 oz cream cheese, softened
4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
⅛ tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
1. Mash the ripe banana until smooth, leaving a few small chunks for texture if desired.
2. In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese and butter together until light and fluffy.
3. Slowly add powdered sugar and beat until fully incorporated.
4. Add mashed banana, vanilla extract, and cinnamon if using. Mix until smooth and creamy.
5. Chill the filling in the fridge for 30 minutes before using to help it firm up.
6. Spread between cake layers, pipe into cupcakes, or use in trifles.
7. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Notes
This filling is best used chilled, as it spreads more easily and holds its shape.
Make sure your bananas are fully ripe for the best flavor.
If using for cupcakes, pipe it using a wide tip to avoid banana bits clogging narrow tips.
