Ingredients
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
½ cup granulated sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup milk
2 cups apples, peeled and diced
½ cup brown sugar
⅓ cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ cup cold unsalted butter
Instructions
1. In a small bowl, combine ½ cup brown sugar, ⅓ cup flour, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon for the streusel. Cut in the cold butter until crumbly. Set aside.
2. In a large bowl, cream ½ cup softened butter with granulated sugar and ¼ cup brown sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk 1½ cups flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon together.
5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk.
6. Gently fold in the diced apples.
7. Spread the batter into a greased 9×9-inch baking pan.
8. Sprinkle the prepared streusel topping evenly over the batter.
9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
10. Cool slightly before serving, or serve warm with ice cream.
Notes
This cake tastes best warm with vanilla ice cream.
You can use a mix of apple varieties for a deeper flavor.
